COMMEMORATIVE CELEBRATION
OF THE END OF WORLD WAR II
AND LIBERATION OF OUR COUNTRY BY THE AMERICAN US ARMY 

The Town of Bela nad Radbuzou in conjunction with the Town of Hostoun
Will host a Commemorative Celebration in remembrance of 

“Operation Cowboy”

The famous daring rescue of 150 Allied POW’s and the saving of 670 Lippizzaner horses to in which two American soldiers would sacrifice their life’s.

Members of both the United States Army and army of the Czech Republic and Veterans will be present for the commemorative ceremonies.

11:30 - Stop in Ruzov, laying of flowers for Pfc. Raymond E. Manz & Tec-5

Fifth Infantry Division, US Army


The famed Fifth Division “Red Devils” from WWI landing in France, the "5" was removed from the diamond. The origin of the 5th Division's motto, "We Will," is not known but it was used in World War One. The German gave the men of the division the name by which we are known today. They called them "Die rote Teufel"- - which in English is "Red Devils!” “Once a Red Devil”- “Always a Red Devil” WWII Landing of the 5th Infantry Division landed on Utah Beach, 9 July 1944. all across Europe to link and form a screen on the initial thrust that would cross paths with element of Patton’s Third Army famed 2nd Cavalry and “Operation Cowboy”, moving swiftly and finding during their liberation of Volary, Czechoslovakia, 93 young Jewish women in a barracks and 119 young ladies buried is shallow graves that had been killed by the Nazi SS who were on their DEATH MARCH that had begin from Poland Private First Class, Charlie Havlat, Dorchester Nebraska 803rd Tank Destroyer (KIA), last known soldier to have died in World War Two ETO. Volary, Czechoslovakia. One of three Czech- American brothers who were with the Fifth Infantry Division, but in different units, who had come over to help liberate their Ancestral home land.
