On center stage marking the 19th year that  the Town of Rokycany, Czech Republic, has invited and played host to members of the United States Army and  Veterans from the Department of Europe, District III, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

LTC. Brian Denny, 2nd ACR, 2nd Striker Brigade, Vilsek, Germany. Home to the famed  unit of the  42D Rcn Sq, 2d Cav Grp (MECZ), that spearheaded the rescue of the famous Lippizzaner horses during “Operation Cowboy”, during the last few days of WWII.

The junior ROTC cadets honor guard from Vilseck American High School, Vilseck Germany. Veterans from the Department of Europe, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Czech Veterans Association  and concerned citizens of Rokycany and of the United States  participate in the annual Veterans Day parade that has been apart of  tradition which has been celebrated by the town of Rokycany since 1990.

 

 

Rokycany was the meeting place to where liberating units of George S. Patton’s Third Army, the 2nd Infantry Division, would meet face to face with the Russian Red Army at the line of demarcation on the outskirts of Rokycany in 1945.

US Army Ambassador, Freedom Team Salute

 

 

Martin was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Freedom Team Salute,  in recognize for many years of service that he and his late father, Milan Dlouhy have given in remembrance of US Army soldiers and the United States Army. It is with their selfless service and commitments to freedom that is important to both our countries way of life, the Czech Republic and the United States.

 

 

Remnants of World War II can still be seen on the streets during different celebrations that are held throughout the year here in the Czech Republic.
